- Catalysts for Biopolymers: Novel homogeneous single-site catalysts for the ring-opening polymerisation of lactones
Work in this project is mainly directed towards the development of novel single-site catalysts for controlled polymerisation of various cyclic ester monomers (eg. lactide, caprolactone, butyrolactone, valerolactone etc.) in terms of molecular weight, molecular weight distribution, and microstructure of polymers.
- Catalysts for Poly(a-olefin): Synthesis and characterisation of post-metallocene catalysts for the polymerisation of a-olefin
The purpose of this project is the development of highly active post-metallocenes based on transition metal complexes. The structure of ligand is believed to play the most important role for polymerisation and, subsequently, ligand design is crucial when it comes to catalyst design. Therefore, the concept of "ligand-oriented catalyst design" is carried out in order to acquire new and original post-metallocenes.
